What could cause slow movements on a 320D excavator if the engine is working properly?

Hi everyone, just wanted to ask for some advice from those who have more experience with these machines.

I have a CAT 320D excavator that recently started having slow or sluggish hydraulic movements. The strange part is that the diesel engine runs perfectly, good power, no smoke, no unusual sounds. But the boom, arm, and travel feel weaker and slower than before.

I'm trying to understand what could be causing this. Could it be hydraulic pump wear, calibration issues, or maybe a sensor problem putting the machine in some kind of low-power mode? I've also been wondering if hydraulic oil condition, clogged filters, or main control valve wear could lead to this kind of performance drop.

For those who've dealt with a similar issue on a 320D:
  • What was the actual cause in your case?
  • Did it turn out to be pumps, electronics, or just maintenance-related?
  • Any simple checks I should do first before calling a technician?
Just trying to learn and troubleshoot step by step. Appreciate any real-world advice

I’d start with the basics. Check hydraulic filters and pilot filter if it has one. Dirty filters can slow everything down. Also check suction line for leaks or cracks, even small air leaks can cause weak hydraulics.
