Hey everyone! I’m restoring my old P25 Pioneer chainsaws and I noticed that the starter on this model seems different I'm trying to determine the exact thread size for the starter mounting screw. Does anyone know if P25 Pioneer used a standard thread size?
Any insights, part numbers, or recommendations on where to source the correct screws would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

Hey Harold, That sounds like an awesome restoration project! From what I remember, the P25 Pioneer typically uses a standard thread size for the starter mounting screws, but it can vary slightly depending on the model year. You might want to check if it’s a 10-24 or 1/4-20 thread. If you have an old screw, you could try matching it at a hardware store or use a thread gauge. Also, you might find the right screws at a small engine repair shop or online vintage chainsaw parts dealers. Hope that helps!

Also, if you're not able to find the specific part, you could try reaching out to Pioneer chainsaw enthusiasts online, they sometimes have spare parts or can help with exact specifications.

@Briggs Ivan makes a great point! There are a few vintage chainsaw forums and Facebook groups where people trade parts and share specs. Harold, have you checked eBay or any classic chainsaw restoration sites? Sometimes you can find NOS (new old stock) parts that still fit perfectly. If all else fails, you might be able to rethread the hole slightly to fit a modern equivalent. Let us know what you end up finding!

Hey@Harold, if you’re still stuck, you might also try measuring the existing hole with a caliper to get an exact thread pitch. Sometimes hardware stores carry thread repair kits if the original threads are worn. Also, have you looked into 3D-printed or machined replicas if the part is hard to find? Would love to hear how your restoration is coming along!

@Harold Miller123, that sounds like a great project! If you haven’t already, you might want to check with local machine shops or specialty fastener suppliers, they sometimes have hard-to-find thread sizes or can help you match the exact specs. Also, if the threads are worn out, a helicoil insert might be an option to restore the original fit. Keep us updated on your progress!

Hey Harold, love seeing old saws get restored! If you’re still hunting for the right screw, you might try checking old Pioneer service manuals because sometimes they list exact specs. Also, if you have a local chainsaw repair shop, they might have a bin of odds and ends that could match. Let us know what you find!

That restoration sounds like a fun challenge! If you haven’t found the right screw yet, maybe checking an old Pioneer service manual or reaching out to vintage chainsaw groups could help. Hope you track it down—would love to see how the project turns out!
