Hey everyone,

What’s the best way to stop a scraper safely, especially on slopes or in tricky conditions? Any tips for newer operators on handling them properly?

Hey @SteelBuilder500, when you're on a slope, make sure to use the parking brake before you get off the machine.
Also, when slowing down, try to ease off the throttle slowly rather than slamming on the brakes, especially in tricky conditions. And if you're on a really steep slope, it might help to have someone spot you for extra safety. Stay safe out there!

By the way, do you usually operate on steep terrain, or is this a new challenge for you?

Good question! on slopes, I always downshift early and let the engine do the braking before tapping the service brakes. Smooth and steady is the key, especially when it’s slick or soft.

Great tips here about engine braking and steady downshifting are key. I’d add that keeping your load balanced helps a ton on slopes too. Scrapers can get squirrely fast if you rush it!
