I'm trying to get a sense of what to expect if I start training or looking for work in this role. Do rates vary a lot by region or experience level?

Entry-level operators usually start lower, especially if you're still training,

In my area, guys with a few years under their belt usually make better than entry-level labor, and the top operators on big crews can command even more.
