Why isn't the ride control working on my JD 244L loader?

The ride control on my JD 244L loader has stopped cushioning the machine, so I'm planning to check the accumulator charge. Service information shows it should be charged to around 350 PSI, but my current adapter doesn't fit the accumulator.

Sounds like you're getting closer to the root of it. Those proprietary charging valves can be a real headache when you're trying to find the right adapter or fitting.

Have you checked with a local Deere dealer to see if they can loan out the correct kit? Sometimes a good hydraulic shop nearby will have the fitting you need too. Hopefully you get it sorted soon - running without proper cushioning gets uncomfortable pretty fast, especially if you're using the machine regularly.

That definitely sounds like the right place to start. If the accumulator has lost its nitrogen charge, the ride control won't do much at all. Just make sure you have the correct charging kit/adapter made for that accumulator, and avoid checking or charging it with compressed air. Also, inspect the ride control switch, solenoid, and any related fuses or wiring while you're at it—they can cause similar symptoms. Hope it's something simple and you're back up and running soon!
