Where do you usually buy used tools?

I'm starting to replace a few of my old tools and would rather buy used if I can find decent quality. I've checked Marketplace a few times, but it's been pretty hit or miss. A lot of the listings look good until you see the tools in person.

I recently stumbled across Ritchie Bros. while looking at equipment auctions and noticed they also sell lots of tools. I made an account and looked through some recently sold lots, and the prices actually seemed pretty reasonable.

Has anyone here picked up tools from their auctions? Did you end up getting good value, or is there somewhere else you'd recommend for buying used tools?

If you're already looking at Ritchie Bros., I'd say it's definitely worth trying. I've found the auction format to be fair, and the prices on used tools have been competitive. Between the detailed listings and the variety of inventory, I've had much better luck there than with random Marketplace sellers.

I've had the best luck by checking a few different places instead of relying on just one. Marketplace can be great, but it's definitely inconsistent. Ritchie Bros. is worth keeping an eye on—their auctions can offer good value if you know what you're looking for and pay attention to the lot details. Local estate sales and pawn shops can also be surprisingly good for used tools.

I usually compare Marketplace, local auctions, and Ritchie Bros. before buying. Ritchie Bros. has been a pleasant surprise, and I've seen some tool lots sell for pretty reasonable prices.

Marketplace is definitely a hit or miss these days. If you're already looking at Ritchie Bros., I'd say go for it. Their auction format is very fair, and the prices on used tools are usually competitive. It's way more reliable than meeting up with strangers, and the detailed listings make a huge difference.

I usually keep an eye on auctions, local classifieds, and surplus sales rather than relying only on Marketplace. Ritchie Bros. has been a good option to browse because they often have a wide range of tools and the sold prices give you a realistic idea of market value. If you know what you're looking for and stick to your budget, you can come across some great buys.

So far, I have been quite successful at **Ritchie Bros.** when it comes to buying used tools, because the condition report and the pictures help determine the item better than when you just randomly browse through Marketplaces. It is worth being patient while looking through auctions.

I usually source mine from reputable heavy equipment dealers, local liquidations, or dedicated machinery forums to ensure quality and reliability.

I've never bought tool lots from Ritchie Bros., but I've heard good things about the variety they offer. I like that you can browse recent sales to get a feel for pricing before jumping in. Hope you end up finding some solid deals!

I've had pretty good luck buying used tools from auctions, including Ritchie Bros. If you're patient and check the photos and descriptions carefully, you can often get quality tools for much less than retail. The key is to stick with trusted brands and factor in any buyer's fees before bidding.

I still browse Facebook Marketplace and local classifieds for individual tools, but for larger lots or shop equipment, auctions have given me better value overall. If you don't mind waiting for the right listing, Ritchie Bros. is definitely worth keeping on your list.
