If your Volvo A35E brake gauge is jumping, it is usually a sensor or wiring issue. Here is a simple checklist:
1. Check the Sensor
Swap it: Try swapping the front and rear brake sensors. If the problem moves to the other gauge, the sensor is bad.
Inspect: Look for moisture or "green crust" inside the plug.
2. Inspect the Wiring
The "Middle" Flex: Check the wiring harness at the articulation joint (where the truck bends). Wires here often fray or break.
The Ground: Make sure the ground wires are tight and clean. A loose ground makes gauges "dance."
3. Check Hydraulics (Engine Running)
Accumulators: If it only jumps while running, the nitrogen in your accumulators might be low.
Air: Bleed the brake lines to ensure no air is trapped in the system.
4. Use a Scanner
Connect a diagnostic tool. If the computer shows steady pressure but the gauge is jumping, you have a wiring or dashboard problem.
