What should I look for when buying a skip loader?

Hey everyone,

I'm considering getting a skip loader and want to make sure I choose the right one. What are the key factors to look for in terms of performance, durability, and efficiency? Are there specific brands or models that stand out? Also, any tips on maintenance or common mistakes to avoid? Would love to hear your experiences!

Make sure to check the loader arm strength, transmission type, and how smooth the controls feel coz those make a big difference in daily use. I’ve had good luck with John Deere and Case skip loaders, both pretty reliable. Also, don’t overlook ease of access for routine maintenance, it saves a ton of hassle down the line!

Appreciate the tips! I’ve heard a few folks mention New Holland models too, has anyone here have experience with those? Also wondering if 4WD makes a noticeable difference on softer job sites or if it's overkill for most tasks?

i'm actually in the same boat, looking into skip loaders too, and 4wd is high on my list since most of my sites have softer ground-curious if anyone here thinks it's a must-have or just nice to have?
