What could cause a ticking noise near the hydraulic pump on a Komatsu?

I'm getting a ticking noise from the back of the engine near the main hydraulic pump on my Komatsu. Hydraulic fluid is full, valve lash was adjusted, and I already tried bleeding the injectors and hydraulic pump with no change. Trying to figure out what to check next.

Likely a worn pump bearing, cavitation from low fluid/air leaks, or a loose mounting bolt. Check fluid levels and lines first.

If the fluid level is good and bleeding didn't help, I'd check for pump cavitation (air leak on the suction side), a worn pump coupling, loose mounting hardware, or a failing pump bearing. A mechanic's stethoscope can help pinpoint whether the ticking is coming from the pump itself or an engine-driven component nearby.

A ticking noise near the hydraulic pump on a Komatsu can be caused by several things, including air entering the hydraulic system, a clogged hydraulic filter, low hydraulic oil level, cavitation in the pump, worn pump components, or a relief valve cycling under pressure. It's a good idea to check the hydraulic fluid level and condition first, then inspect filters, suction lines, and fittings for leaks or restrictions. Identifying whether the noise changes with engine speed or hydraulic load can also help narrow down the cause.

Ticking near the hydraulic pump on a Komatsu can come from a few different places. Since you've already ruled out valve lash and injectors, I'd focus on the charge pump next - a worn charge pump often makes a rhythmic ticking that gets louder under load. Also worth inspecting the suction line for any hairline cracks causing air ingestion, which mimics cavitation noise. Pull the pump cover and check internal shoe wear before assuming the worst.
