Hey everyone!

What are the key safety precautions for operating a forklift? I know things like wearing a seatbelt and keeping loads balanced are important, but are there any other critical rules operators should always follow? Would love to hear from experienced drivers! Thank you

Good question, @Elmer Garcia! In addition to seatbelts and load balance, always keep a clear line of sight, use your horn at blind corners, and go slow when turning to avoid tipping. Also, never lift or carry people on the forks seen that go wrong too many times! Anyone else got safety tips that are often overlooked?

Solid tips @Sawdust123! I’d add always checking the tires and brakes before each shift, it's easy to skip, but can save you big time. Also, don’t forget to lower the forks when parking, seen a few close calls from that!

Big ones for me are pre-shift inspections, keeping loads low and stable, and always watching your speed and surroundings.

Always check your surroundings before you move. Use the horn when you go around corners or through doorways to warn people you're coming. It's also vital to keep your arms and legs inside the cage at all times. But the biggest thing is to never speed, especially when you're carrying a heavy load.
