hey everyone, I’ve been keeping an eye on the used heavy equipment market and wondering what trends you’ve all been seeing lately. Are resale values holding steady, dropping, or going back up in certain categories? It feels like demand is still strong for some gear, especially low-hour machines, but I’m curious what’s moving fastest right now. Also, have auctions been better deals lately, or are private sales still the way to go? Would love to hear your insights on what’s hot, what’s not, and where the best value is in today’s market.

lately, I’ve noticed a few clear trends in the used marketlike
  • Compact equipment (like skid steers and mini excavators) is hot and still moving fast thanks to residential and small commercial demand
  • Low-hour machines are gold coz buyers are jumping on anything under 2,000 hours, especially Tier 4 models
  • Older Tier 3 gear with no DEF is holding value well, especially in regions where emissions rules aren’t strict
  • Auctions are hit-or-miss...some bargains pop up, but bidding wars on clean units are driving prices close to retail
  • Private sales still win for price, but it takes more legwork and trust
If you’re selling, now is still a solid time... just price it smart and watch category trends
