Roughly how much does a brand-new compactor go for these days?

I know pricing probably depends on the size and brand (plate compactor vs roller, etc.), but I'm just looking for a general ballpark to help set expectations. If you've bought one recently or have experience with different models, I'd appreciate any insight.

For a rough ballpark: small single-direction plate compactors are usually in the $600-$2,000 range brand new. Reversible/heavier plates tend to be $3k-$8k. Once you move into rollers, pricing jumps a lot-walk-behind rollers often start around $15k, and ride-on units can easily hit $50k+. Brand and engine choice make a big difference.

Yeah, you're right, pricing can swing quite a bit depending on the size, brand, and whether you're looking at a plate compactor or a small roller. From what I've seen lately, basic plate compactors can start somewhere around the low four-figure range if you're buying new, and even less if you go used. Small walk-behind or ride-on rollers usually jump quite a bit higher. Often into the mid to high four figures or more, depending on condition and hours.
