Hey folks, I’ve been seeing both road reclaimers and soil stabilizers mentioned a lot in road work projects... what’s the real difference between the two? Are they basically the same machine with different names or do they handle completely different jobs? Would love to hear from anyone who operated or owned either one

hey @dig&Roll123 they are similar but not quite the same. Road reclaimers typically pulverize old asphalt and mix it with the base to rebuild the road, while soil stabilizers mainly mix additives like lime or cement into native soil to improve its load-bearing. Some machines can do both, but it really depends on the setup.

@Billy_Grant I’ve wondered the same.. its cool to see how the purpose shifts depending on whether you’re chewing up old pavement or just improving raw ground. Anyone here actually run a combo machine that handles both?
