Mini Cold Planers - Any Real Performance or Just a Gimmick?

hey all,
Anyone here have experience with mini cold planers? I’m curious if they actually perform well for small patch jobs or if they’re more hype than help. Are they worth the investment, or do full-size machines still make more sense even for light work?

hey, used one for small patch jobs, and honestly, it surprised me

way better than grinding by hand and super maneuverable

Tried one last season-wasn't expecting much, but it chewed through aptches way faster than I thought it would.

Honestly feels a bit gimmicky to me, itworks for small patches, but I’d still take a full-size machine if you’ve got real work to get done

I wouldn't call them a gimmick, on small patch jobs and tight areas, they can save a ton of time and mobilization costs. Full-size machines still win on bigger projects, but mini cold planers definitely have their place.
