Uptime is everything. When your Tadano GR-500XL throws an AML-C code, follow this fast-track guide to get back to the lift.
1. Identify the Code
Check the display for a 4-digit code. Most issues (like Error 2022) involve a mismatch between the crane's physical setup and the computer's settings.
2. Rapid Troubleshooting Steps
  • Sync Your Setup: Ensure the AML settings for outriggers, boom, and jib perfectly match the machine's actual configuration.
  • Check the Pins: Ensure all jib set pins are fully seated or pulled. A "ghost" signal from a loose pin is a common culprit.
  • Clean the Sensors: Wipe down limit switches and retraction detectors. Mud or grease often triggers false sensor failures.
  • Power Cycle: Shut down the engine and battery for 60 seconds. A system reboot often clears transient "E" or "W" codes.
3. When to Call Service
If the code persists after a reset, specifically codes related to CAN bus or A/D conversion, contact a technician to avoid bypassing critical safety systems.
