When checking the chassis ECM on a CAT 730, don't jump straight to replacing it. Start with the basics first. Check battery voltage, fuses, relays, and all the grounds since low voltage or bad grounding can cause a lot of ECM faults.
Then hook up the CAT ET and pull the active and logged codes. That usually helps you figure out if the problem is electrical, communication-related, or coming from a sensor/input.
