I recently bought a 1996 John Deere 7775, and I'm getting ready to change the chaincase oil, but I'm finding mixed information online about the gearbox lubrication setup. Some people say the gearbox has separate oil, while others say it's lubricated by the chaincase.
Under the seat, I found what looks like a 45-degree pipe fitting inside each chaincase, and there's also a drain plug on the outside cover. When I cracked the plug loose, oil immediately started coming out, so I'm assuming that's the drain. Before I go any further, I just want to make sure I'm servicing it correctly and not missing a separate gearbox fill or drain point. Any help from someone familiar with the JD 7775 would be appreciated.
