CAT D5C won’t steer left and right, only steers with the brake. Could low steering valve pressure be the issue or should I check something else first?

Having a steering issue on a CAT D5C where it won’t steer left and only steers right with heavy brake application could point to low pressure from the steering valve circuit, internal leakage, or worn clutch components. Before pulling the steering valves apart, it’s worth checking charge pressure, linkage adjustment, brake/clutch pack condition, and oil/filter status. Verifying pressures with a mechanical gauge can help confirm whether the problem is truly hydraulic or related to mechanical wear inside the steering system.

Yeah I’d probably slow down before tearing into the steering valves. If it won’t steer left and only grabs right with a lot of brake, it could definitely be low pressure or some internal leakage, but I’d want to confirm the basics first.
