Can anyone explain 2 safety procedures you need to follow when using trenchers?

What are two key safety procedures to follow when operating a trencher? I know staying aware of underground utilities is important, but what else should be a top priority? thanks in advance.

Good question! Besides checking for underground utilities, I’d say making sure the trencher has a stable work surface is huge—uneven ground can cause some serious issues. Also, always keep a safe distance from the chain and never try to clear debris while it’s running. Trencher accidents happen fast, so staying alert is key!

Hey Fergus, solid you mentioned utilities, that’s rule #1. Another big one: always make sure guards and shields are in place before firing it up. Also, stay out of the spoil pile zone, trencher kickback or cave-ins can happen real quick if the trench walls aren’t stable. Stay safe out there!
