Does anyone here have recommendations for the best shipping companies for equipment bought from IronPlanet? I'm looking for reliable transport services that can handle heavy machinery safely and at a reasonable cost. Any companies you've had good experiences with for hauling equipment after winning an IronPlanet auction?

I’ve seen some people use the transport service offered through IronPlanet itself. It’s convenient since they already know the pickup location and equipment details. But the price can be a bit higher sometimes.

If you're buying from IronPlanet, you actually have a few solid transport options depending on distance, machine size, and urgency.

if you see a "wet" hose that is attracting dust and turning into "grime," it's already failing. the oil is pushing through the outer carcass, and it's only a matter of time before the steel braid gives way.

I’ve had decent luck using both Veritread and independent heavy haul brokers after IronPlanet purchases. Biggest tip I can give is to always double check the actual machine dimensions and weight yourself before booking, because auction listings are sometimes missing attachments or modified specs that can change the transport permit requirements fast. Also ask the transporter if they’ve hauled equipment out of that specific yard before, some locations are super organized, while others can turn pickup day into an all-day adventure 😅

Another thing that helped me avoid headaches was taking lots of screenshots of the listing photos and inspection notes before the auction closes. Makes it way easier to compare condition at pickup and helps the driver know what they’re dealing with. If the machine doesn’t run or steer properly, make sure that’s mentioned upfront too, otherwise the quote can suddenly change once the truck arrives.

For smaller machines, sometimes regional haulers end up cheaper than the big national names, especially if they’re already moving equipment through the same route. Flexibility on pickup timing can save a surprising amount of money too.
