What requirements or steps are needed to purchase equipment on SalvageSale?

I've been looking at SalvageSale while comparing used and salvage heavy equipment platforms, and I'm trying to understand how the buying process works there. For those who have actually purchased equipment on SalvageSale, what requirements do you need before you can bid or buy? Do you have to complete full registration, submit a deposit, or show proof of funds first?

Also curious about the next steps after winning - how does payment usually work, and do buyers need to arrange their own equipment transport and permits? Just trying to learn the real process before jumping into a purchase. Would appreciate any advice or firsthand experience.

I went through it once, had to complete full registration and put down a deposit before bidding, and after winning it was pretty much quick payment and you handle your own transport, so having a hauler lined up helps a lot

I've worked with platforms like SalvageSale, and the flow is pretty similar to other Ritchie Bros.-backed marketplaces, but with a few things to keep in mind:

Getting started (before you can bid)
  • You need full registration + account approval before bidding
  • In most cases, they'll verify your details (business or personal)
  • Some listings may require a refundable deposit or proof of funds, especially for higher-value equipment (common in auctions to filter serious buyers)

You can't just jump in. You need to be a verified bidder first.
