Interesting stuff! I’ve only run the newer Bobcat engines so far, and they’ve been solid on fuel and cold starts. Would love to hear from someone who’s run both Kubota and Bobcat side by side, any noticeable torque drop or gains?
Thanks for the info @road_runner! I’ve been looking into insurance too and didn’t realize how much coverage can vary depending on how the skid steer’s used. Has anyone here gone through a claim process before? Curious how smooth that actually is with these providers.
Nice breakdown, @bumble_bee123! I’ve mostly used Class IV and V forklifts on job sites, Class V especially holds up great outdoors. Curious if anyone’s had issues switching between electric and propane forklifts in mixed-use spaces?
Absolutely with telematics and predictive maintenance tools have been game changers for us too. Getting ahead of breakdowns and tracking equipment usage in real time has helped keep projects moving and cut down on last-minute surprises. Automated scheduling’s been hit or miss, but when it works...
Yeah, most bucket trucks need to be inspected and recertified annually per ANSI and OSHA standards, especially the lift and safety systems. It’s easy to overlook, but staying on top of that yearly check is key to staying compliant and avoiding downtime.
Yeah, articulated trucks are beasts off-road thanks to that pivot joint, it gives them way better traction and flexibility on uneven ground. But if you're hauling on firm surfaces or doing mostly roadwork, a standard dump truck can usually haul more and run faster. Just depends on the job site!
I’d also say don’t skimp on the geotextile fabric under the base, it helps prevent shifting and weeds long term. Curious about whether anyone tried using edging restraints with spikes to keep borders tight?
Hi @philip, larger compactors give deeper compaction and are great for big, open areas, but smaller ones are perfect for tight spaces or trench work where maneuverability matters just as much as force.
Hey folks, I try to stick to the 100-hour rule too, but has anyone noticed a big difference in performance based on brand or model? Curious if some generators need more TLC than others.
Lots of great tips here! Base prep seems to be the MVP of paver installs if you get that wrong, you’re in for a headache later. Anyone ever had to redo a project because of a rushed base?
