Yeah, $400 feels a bit pricey for just a day-unless it includes all the bells and whistles like drop-off, pickup, and dumping. I'd call around a few local spots and see if they'll price match or cut you a better deal. Sometime ssmaller companies are more flexible!

yeah, i've had the same issue in the cold - switching to winter-graed fluid and letting it warm up first made a big difference for me.
