seems like electric is awesome for niche jobs-quiet, low-maintenance, and great indoors-but yeah, for long outdoor shifts diesel still has the edge until charging and battery tech cathc up.
I think the next big step is machines talking to each other on site-like loaders, haulers, and dozerss yncing in real time-which could make jobs way more efficient and safer.
Hey folks,
Quick question for anyone who's dealt with leasing before. I've got a piece of heavy equipment on a lease, but I'm thinking of upgrading to something bigger before the term is up. Is it possible to trade it in early, or is that going to cost me a fortune in penalties? I've heard...
Yeah, I've been watching the same trends-compact gear's still moving fast, but I've noticed some softening on bigger dozers and high-hour excavators lately. Auctions can be a gamble, but every now and then there's a sleeper deal if you're quick!
Hey @Liam_smith
Definitely been there.. a few red flags I’ve seen before a generator gives out
Weird noises like knocking, rattling, or sudden loud humming usually means internal wear.
Power surges or flickers ..inconsistent output is a big sign something’s off.
Slow or rough starts –...
i once rented a 12k and it was total overkill...harder to maneuver and cost more for no real benefit. Stick with something mid-range unless you got consistent heavy picks lined up.
you nailed it...Wirtgen shines for smooth cuts and solid uptime if well-maintained, but Roadtec simpler design and easier parts access can be a real lifesaver when youer trying to keep downtime minimal.
ive worked both as well, and it really came down to what stage of life I was in... seasonal was awesome for travel and side hustles, but full-time definitely gave me more peace of mind.
