Hey everyone, I've been working in the field for a while and I'm starting to think about moving into construction management. For those of you who've made the switch, what was the biggest challenge and how did you overcome it? Do you recommend getting extra certifications or is on-the-job experience enough to stand out? Any advice on making a smooth transition would be awesome!

i made the same move a few years back. the biggest challenge was learning how to manage people and time not just the work itself. in the field, you focus on getting things done. in management, you deal with planning, paperwork, and keeping everyone on track. extra certifications help, especially if you want to stand out or move up faster but real experience still matters more. if you already know how the site works, that gives you a big edge. my advice is shadow a project manager if you can. watch how they handle schedules, budgets, and teams. it’ll help you see if management is really the direction you want to take.
