Why Does the NYPD Use Dump Trucks?

Hi, just curious about why does the NYPD sometimes uses dump trucks in certain situations, especially during big events or heightened security periods. Does anyone know why they use dump trucks instead of standard police vehicles or barricades? Is it just for blocking roads, or do they serve another purpose?

Yeah, it’s mostly for blocking roads, but dump trucks have the added advantage of being super heavy and hard to move, making them a solid barrier against potential threats. Plus, if they’re loaded with sand or gravel, they can absorb impact way better than standard barricades. Definitely a creative use of city resources!
