Hey folks, I'm interested in how people are using auction sales to buy or sell construction equipment these days. Are online auctions working just as well as in-person ones, or do you prefer a mix of both? For buyers, what do you usually look for to avoid surprises, and for sellers, what helps get better prices? I see a lot of talk about platforms like Ritchie Bros. and others, but I'm curious what's actually working in real life. Any tips or lessons learned from auction experience would be great to hear.

I've had the best luck using a mix of online and in-person auctions.. online fro convenience, then sticking with well-documented platforms like Ritchie Bros. and doing a solid inspection to avoid surprises.

Auction sales work great if you treat them like homework :D, not gambling-online is convenient, in-person gives you better feel, and inspections plus service records matter more than the paint job (learned that one the expensive way ). For sellers, clean machines, honest descriptions, and good timing usually bring stronger bids than hype ever will.
