Hey everyone,
I'm about to work on a steering issue and I may need to remove the priority valve from the steering system, but I want to make sure I'm doing it the right way before I start pulling things apart.
From what I understand, the priority valve is there to make sure the steering always gets hydraulic flow first, so I'm guessing there are a few things to be careful with - like relieving hydraulic pressure, marking hose locations, and keeping dirt out of the system. I'm also not sure if there are common problems like stuck fittings, hidden mounting bolts, or seals that usually need replacement once the valve is removed.
This is on heavy equipment (hydraulic steering setup), not a car, so space is a bit tight and I'd like to avoid creating more issues than I fix.
For those who've done this before:
What's the safest step-by-step way to remove a steering priority valve?
