How do I bleed a hydraulic quick hitch cylinder on a Case mini excavator?

I had the hydraulic quick hitch cylinder on my Case mini excavator repaired and need to reinstall it. Should I bleed the cylinder manually, or will operating the attachment remove the air? Also, what is the correct boom and bucket position for checking the hydraulic oil level?
