I'm trying to track down scarifier wedges for an old 1954 CAT 12 motor grader, and I'm starting to wonder if these parts are still available anywhere. This machine is still in working condition, but the scarifier setup is getting worn and I'd like to replace the wedges before it bceomes a bigger issue.
I've checked a few local heavy equipment parts suppliers and did some searching online, but it's been tough finding vintage Caterpillar grader parts, especially for something this specific. I'm not sure if these wedges are still manufactured, or if the only real option now is surplus yards, aftermarket fabricators, or used parts.
Has anyone here had luck sourcing replacement scarifier wedges for older CAT graders like the CAT 12?
Are there certain heavy equipment salvage yards, aftermarket brands, or even fabrication shops you'd recommend?
Also curious if newer wedges from later grader models can be adapted, or if custom machining is usually the way to go with machines this old.
