How do you remove the engine-to-transmission driveline on a Caterpillar 615 to replace bad U-joints?

I'm working on the driveline of a Caterpillar 615 and the U-joints are completely worn out The problem is the driveline between the engine and transmission does not look like it has enough room to come out easily. From what I can see, it almost looks like the transmission may need to be moved or removed to get the shaft out.

Before moving the transmission, check the service manual and see if the shaft has a slip joint or access panel that gives a little extra clearance. Mark the driveline orientation before removal too, it can save you from vibration headaches when everything goes back together.
