Why does my JLG T500J boom lift platform tilt when raised, and are the counterbalance valves the issue?

Working on a JLG T500J boom lift, the platform tilts upward when raised but levels again when lowered. Could this be a counterbalance valve issue, or should I check the leveling cylinder or sensors?

Appreciate any insights
 
Sounds like you’re on the right track. . could be a sticky counterbalance valve, but I’d also check the leveling cylinder and sensors first since those usually cause that “tilts up when raised” behavior
 
Yeah that “tilts up then corrects” usually points more to the leveling system, you try checking for air in the lines or a weak leveling cylinder before chasing the counterbalance valves
