I’ve been getting more involved in commercial bids lately and wanted to hear from others with more experience about what are some red flags you watch for before submitting a bid? Whether it’s unclear scope, late-stage design changes, or unrealistic timelines, I’d love to know what makes you think twice. Great question, Stephen! One red flag for me is when the client rushes the bid deadline, but the plans are half-baked it usually spells trouble later. Have you run into that yet?

Absolutely! Red flag for me is when there’s no clear point of contact or the GC avoids answering key questions. Big nope!

If the scope keeps shifting or no one can give a straight answer during pre-bid questions, that’s usually my cue to walk away.
