What’s a Red Flag When Bidding Commercial Projects?

Hey all,

I’ve been getting more involved in commercial bids lately and wanted to hear from others with more experience about what are some red flags you watch for before submitting a bid? Whether it’s unclear scope, late-stage design changes, or unrealistic timelines, I’d love to know what makes you think twice. Have you ever pulled out of a bid because of something that didn’t sit right? Looking forward to learning from your experiences!

Great question, Stephen! One red flag for me is when the client rushes the bid deadline, but the plans are half-baked it usually spells trouble later. Have you run into that yet?

Totally agree that if the timeline’s rushed and the drawings are messy, it’s usually a sign of chaos to come. Proceed with caution!

If the scope keeps shifting or no one can give a straight answer during pre-bid questions, that’s usually my cue to walk away.
