Hey everyone,

I’ve noticed that stand-up forklifts have a pedal on the floor, and I’m curious about its purpose. Is it related to braking, safety, or something else?

Also, do all stand-up forklifts have this feature, or does it vary by model? Any insights from experienced operators would be great!

Thanks in advance!

Hey @Richard Thompson, good question! That pedal is usually a deadman switch, meaning the forklift won’t move unless the operator has their foot on it. It’s a built-in safety feature to prevent accidental movement. Most stand-up forklifts have it, but the design might vary a bit depending on the model. Definitely something to be aware of if you’re operating one! :)
