What fuel do excavators use?

Hey all,

What type of fuel do excavators typically use? Do most models run on diesel, or are there other fuel options available?

Are there any differences in fuel efficiency between brands or machine sizes? Also, do hybrid or electric excavators exist, and how do they compare in performance?

Curious to know what operators prefer and why! Thanks

Hey Jack, most excavators run on diesel, as it's the most common and efficient option for heavy machinery. However, some manufacturers are starting to offer hybrid or electric models, especially for urban or environmentally-conscious projects. Diesel models tend to have better fuel efficiency, but hybrid/electric ones are quieter and produce fewer emissions, though they’re still less common for larger jobs.
