Hi!

I’ve been looking into electric forklifts and was wondering—what exactly powers them? I know they don’t run on fuel like diesel or propane models, but what type of batteries or power sources do they use? Are there different options, and how do they compare in terms of performance and lifespan?

Would love to hear from those who have experience with electric forklifts!

Thanks!

Electric forklifts run on rechargeable batteries, usually lead-acid or lithium-ion. Lead-acid is the old-school, reliable option, but lithium-ion lasts longer, charges faster, and requires less maintenance—just a bit pricier. Kind of like choosing between a flip phone and a smartphone, both work, but one’s definitely more high-tech!

Spot on, @EB_Banawe! Lithium-ion definitely has some big advantages, especially with faster charging and less maintenance. But lead-acid is still widely used since it’s more affordable upfront. Does anyone here have experience switching from lead-acid to lithium-ion? Was it worth it?
