Has anyone explored buying hardware for telematics that is separate from the software? Meaning, if you have a large enough fleet, building your own simple software application (especially with AI tools now??) that pulls in raw API data from machine? Seems like one could capitalize the hardware...

Definitely like the Bluetooth idea. If the hardware is IP69k rated, will/should hold up just fine.
